SPORTS MANAGEMENT PROGRAMME

The ESE Short Course in Sports Management provides students with an expansive view of various sporting areas and with the skills required to succeed in this field of management, from controlling fan-packed stadiums, to controlling the production of sports memorabilia and single player management. The specialisation in sports management endows students with a thorough understanding of the dynamic issues and practices present in sport management. Three central topics will be mastered in this course: sports management, sports marketing and sports event organisation.

Sports Management course is delivered through a series of tutorials and seminars including case studies. Assessment is usually through a group project and presentation. Upon successful completion of the course, students are awarded an ESE certificate of attendence and receive a transcript.

Provide students the fundamentals and key knowledge of sports management and its main drivers, via sharing conceptual tools and global/local practical cases of the sport scene. In general, students will understand, among other topics, the development process of business and marketing exploitation, the integration of sports communications and also the role of event management within the sport scene, together with their strategy, planning and execution phases, including the actors involved and their interactions and dynamics.
Temario Course In Sports Management MODULE 1. FUNDAMENTALS, DEVELOPMENT &IMPACT ( 15H) Main content: history, structure - governing bodies & sector players - , economical & social impact of sports. MODULE 2. EVENT MANAGEMENT (15H) Main content: the hosting of sports events, its impacts on the local environment, economy and industry, including its international importance, the relevance of scale, owners and organizers and the roles they play, the planning process, impact & legacies, revenue maximization, marketing planning & implementation, events sponsorships, ticketing, etc. MODULE 3. INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS (15H) Main content: the integration of marketing communications areas within the sports sector, such as Advertising, Sponsorships, Retail Communication, PR, etc., including digital and social media. MODULE 4. MARKETING BUSINESS EXPLOITATION (15H) Main content: marketing exploitation areas, their players & dynamics, marketing and business strategies in general, merchandising, licensing, TV rights, sponsorships rights, sport betting, agencies and other players, etc.    MODULE 5. MARKETING RESEARCH, EVALUATION AND INTELLIGENCE (15H) Main content: insights and intelligence via market research, media evaluation, market intelligence, consulting solutions and other metrics for the strategic development and control of sports marketing and business initiatives.
